Well, went to AquaSD Sunday. Won't tell you what I came home with because you'll want pictures of that too.....& my pictures SUCK!!

Afterwards, went up to University of California San Diego Campus in La Jolla (la.hoya) to get ocean water. UCSD offered saltwater from the ocean piped right in from the waves. You had to really be careful when you were collecting water & make sure there were no storms because of the runoff from storm drains and all.....made you wonder what the heck happened to the water quality of your tank.
It was pretty primative with a spigot type of thing where surfers & sunbathers would come & wash off the salt....sometimes leave the spigot running. It was a mess.

Anyway, the moral to my too long story is: They've given us a new filtration system that filters the saltwater now, an actual spigot/hose to dispense the saltwater, a concrete driveway & drain....the waters FREE!!! You can drive right up to the spigot!

Spigot (valve), can you see "saltwater" written on it?(click on pic)
(this is 250yds from waves, dorms are 50ft behind the camera)

The university has gone "green" with this project encouraging its use. The idea is, that it cuts the use of resources & greenhouse emissions. It also boosts the interest in aquatic life, research & exploration. It also helps me save $$ on salt! I mix a 50/50 natural/synthetic mix of saltwater for the tanks at home.
