I am seeing a lot of diatoms now. They should go away ontheir own, but I need to go t my LFS so I can get a better CUC. It would be about the same price as John from RC but without the shipping.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Nice scape!

What day cycle wise are you on?

What size sand did you use?

Looks good, a lot of shelf room for corals.

Thanks! I added water in the tank on Jan 4. So today is day 28. I have diatoms on the rocks. Some on the sand too, but no as much.

The sand is carib-Sea aragonite. I hadn't realised when I bought it but it clearly says "sugar-sized oolite on the sticker. lol. That's all right. I like the look of the really fine sand as long as I don't get a dust storm.

I am super excited to get this thing going. I am not sure what I will do when it comes to lighting. The bulbs I wanted won't be availible for at least two weeks. I am looking at my options and the dimmable CREE LED retro-fit fixtures are looking promising.

BTW if anyone is wondering why my sand is bumpy, that is a mix of shells and crushed coral I placed on the sand bed. It makes it look really cool. :)

With pendant lights, I will have an "open top"(in a sense). I will be making a nice trim top to cover the black frame of the tank. It will basically just be covering the black. In the lip of the trim, will sit a clear screen top, with white edges. I will do this project using materials obtained from Lowe's, as seen in the BRS video, below.

This project can be built for approximately $20-$30, dependingon the size you want.

    -window screen framing
    -corner frames
    -spline
    -roller
-1/4" mesh screen(available from Bulk reef Supply)

Thanks, Mike. I should be getting parts when my dad gets paid. That's in the next couple of days, hopefully.
