Hopefully flow coming from the bottom of the reactor will allow the media to tumble better.

Corals aren't doing so good today. :( My king midas zoas have been closed for several days now. I didn't notice anything else wrong, so I left them alone. Today, some of the polyps are actually gone. The growth (just a pew polyps) onto the rock has disappeared.

My Montipora cap. had one white spot on it on Tues. I've been watching it carefully. But I came home today and now there are also several smaller white spots, scattered on the top of the monti.

I have not noticed any nudies or flatworms, as I though that was the first possibility. Any ideas? I will test the water parameters. I have a feeling it is the calcium level that is the problem and I need to start doing water changes. :( but I am unsure of why the zoas are doing bad. It's only that one variety.

As for the zoas, any possibility that the shrimp made a snack of 'em? I know they are cleaners but the only other thing that occurs to me for them.

As for the Monti, did you take it out and inspect it under a powerful looking glass for nudi eggs? I think (have to check with others that may know more) that they lay eggs on the underside of the coral. I know they are monti eating nudis tough buggers to spot though.

Calcium could be the issue though too at least for the Monti. The zoas on the other hand I don't think it would impact them as much/in that way.

I know calcium is an issue in my tank (birdsnests all got STN :-/ ), and so I will be buying Red Sea Coral Pro salt mix, and going back to doing water changes. Though i am unsure if that is the only issue, or if it is one at all with the monti. These white spots just appeared within the past week. I have not yet checked the underside of the coral. I will look for them under a magnifying glass, tomorrow.

Thanks, Cosmo. I think I should figure out what's wrong with the tank first. I will let you know when I am ready.

ok sounds good, he can grow a bit more ;) good luck. IMO some tanks just don't like zoo's, my tank is finally allowing some growth of them, but it killed the first 3 or 4 colonies.

The funny thing is, the rest of my zoas/palys are open wide and happy. It's just the king midas.
