thx for the offer, but luckily so far, i don't need one, but outta curiosity, did your corals turn south after ya fired this thing up? That seems to happen to a few people when adding pellets. But the froggy is still small, so i wanna wait for good weather so she makes it. Its about the size of a walnut now, let me know when you feel the tank is ready. Although it seems like my frog def likes a dirty tank over a clean one.

All carbon sources will have an exhaustion period, upon which some leach back into the system (i.e., granular activated carbon), and others biodegrade (like biopellets). I am not certain of the lifespan of WM ULNS Pellets, though it does generally depend on the bioload of your aquarium.

I have also heard of the possibilities of biopellets causing some issues when first introduced to a reef tank. Those may include algae outbreaks and bacterial blooms, which are much more prevalent in newer setups. Although these issues can be kept under control with bacterial supplements (Brightwell Aquatics Microbacter 7 seems to be the most popular among 3reefers) while the media is still breaking in, I do not feel it should be much of a problem with my tank, as it is over a year old.

I think Cosmo raises a good point re: the timing of starting the pellets and the issues you are seeing with your tank. I'm not saying it is the cause, but it is worth some further thought for sure.

Thanks; it was fun making it!

Running biopellets can increase your pH levels in your aquarium, causing alk burns to some corals (one thing I did not mention above), so I will have to watch out for that.

    Hopefully it doesn't turn south.

Wait, I thought you were having issues with losing some corals, hence why we were waiting on shipping the frog.

I did plumb the reactor into my return line. Due to some design issues in the first try, I did not actually start my pellets. I had to invert the reactor so flow now comes from below the media, apposed to before, when water came in from the top and didn't receive much turbulence.

Pellets were not officially put online (as in, running in my system) until today. The start of running biopellets in my aquarium was delayed due to my tubing not reaching the sump, on the output end of the reactor. I just fired it up a few hours ago.

I was, but these issues were not related to the running of pellets, as I had not actually had them running on my tank yet.

Bad timing for starting pellets (today)?

    OK, sweet.

I'd like to receive it on a Friday or Saturday. I think it depends what time it arrives. I know the guy that delivered express packages always gets to me at 3:00 on weekdays.
