I am going to go out tomorrow and mow neighbors' lawns. I think I may be able to make some money doing that.

I saw Spectra-Pure is having their June sale for about 1 more week. I could save $100 if I get the RODI unit soon rather than waiting. that will help short -term and long-term.

Oh...on top of all that...I dropped my cell phone into a cup of water yesterday. -.- Don't ask how. I don't know if I just need a new battery or a whole new phone yet. I put it in rice yesterday but the battery was almost dead(needed to be charged) at the time of getting the phone got wet.

FOWLR - 29g or 75g? I have enough sand and rock.

To do this I will just need to buy an rodi unit and replace my heater.

An RO unit is not a necessity for FO. I didn't use it for my fish tanks until I got the reef tank going. Don't run the lights a lot to keep algae down.

I don't have lights right now. I have the generic "fuge light" (6500k spiral CF w/ clamp-on reflector) which I turn on occasionally when I want to look in the tank.

You don't need an expensive light for fish, either. I still use an overdriven T8 shop light over the Queen Trigger's tank. It would be a waste of money to use anything more expensive. Looks really good, too.

    That's true...

We do still have a 4' 2x T8 fixture. I'm pretty sure they are 24w bubls.

At the rate I am buying gallon jugs of water I think an RODI unit is necessary, even for a 29g FOWLR

That's all you need. Honestly, many FO people use tapwater and Prime. Of course, a RODI unit is better if you can swing it. I'd rather have a FO tank than nothing. :)

Just added 2.5g of tap water to make up for some of the evaporation. :( :(

The tank is at about 1.035 now...
