Just a random thought here, but I plan to add a model plane or submarine to the tank when I start up the 75 with rock, sand, and water. I will break it apart a bit and make bullet holes and all that fun stuff.

I meant to do it before, but never did.

Well, the stand won't be started(building) until next weekend. But for now, which do you like best? I' don't know if I want the bead board or a natural wood finish.

We've decided to skin the stand(frame) with 1/2" maple ply. We are still trying to decide what stain/finish to put on it. I want something light; Dad wants something a bit darker(medium range). We will most likely pick from the following (Minwax and Cabot brands)...

    -Natural
    -Colonial Maple
    -Gloden Pecan
    -Ipswich Pine

I just remembered that I have an old 55g in my garage. So, I could use it as a sump with a 10g ATO or I could use it as a quarantine tank. If I don't use it for the sump, I will use my 29g with a 10g(separate tank) return section. I'm liking the sound of a 55g sump. haha

I like the darker stain. I have it on my tank and it makes the color of my lights and coral a lot more pretty! I also only stained it once.

Sorry, to disappoint...Dad gets what he wants(sort of). :) We decided to go with maple ply for the skin. *Read post 75* "It will look nicer with the white trim and light olive green walls," he says. lol. He wants a medium color stain, well I think I want it to be a natural maple(pretty light colored).

What are your thoughts on the sump?

Another question about the skimmer...how deep(water level) should the skimmer be in? Don't most most simmers have best performance at an optimal water depth while being used in a sump?

Also, how long with this take to break in?

You will need to read the instructions or contact the manufacturer for the optimal depth on the skimmer.
