Sean's 20G long (new light system!)

So i went ahead and bought the Aquastyles 24 bulb DIY led set up. Here is a few pics i took i dont think it is long enough to cover my entire tank. Please give me your opinions

Hi again, Sean. Nice job on the LED build.

Your tank is not very deep, and so the lights don't need to be very close to the water surface. Too close, and you may actually bleach the corals. I have my boost par30s about 6-8" above my 29g (18" deep).

I think with proper placement in mind, you could have your mixed reef with the lights 12" above the tank (last photo). Otherwise you will have the shadows at each end of the tank. Are there any optics on the lights, and if so, what degree/angle?

You could get wider optics on the outside leds to help get better coverage.

They came with 60 degree optics. i honestly am not happy with it because my tank isnt getting enough light on the edges i think i might be wrong tho

That might be a good idea. Switch the LEDs to the longer heatsink; I would put the 60* optics on, and then hang the new heatsink about 8" over the tank.
