    Not much. :p

So the fixture will be black. I still don't know if I want to paint the cabinet white or stain it with a natural finish. Lets take a vote.

    Here are the two options...

    1. Semi-gloss white. This would be painted with a foam roller so as not to have any texture to the paint. It should be smooth/sleek.
    2. Natural color, clear wood stain. The wood is birch, so it will be a light color.

I prefer stain finishes, but the white matches your lights nicely.

I've actually decided the lights will be painted black (taped off, etc so it doesn't look bad). This will be the same no matter which cabinet color I end up choosing.

My 29g light fixture is all white. It looks nice, but the black will tie in with the rest of the stuff on the walls (all picture frames are black aluminum or a very dark color wood). Door trim and base boards in the house are an off-white.

haha. But black will only be used for the light fixture. :) I would like for the cabinet to be a lighter color (ie one of the two in the drawing).

    Hey Seano,

I voted for the white finish.

White seems to provide a nice contrast.

Sean. What fixture are you painting? Also I like the white as well. Remember if you are going to paint raw wood it is important to prime it first otherwise the paint may raise the grain on the stand. I also would not use a foam roller. They can cause the paint to form bubbles. If you have a Home depot you can purchase a Purdy 1/4 Inch nap roller head that will give you fine results.;)
P.S. I have been a painter/Wallpaper hanger for about 30 years so if you have more questions?Shoot.LOL
