I've had a great winter break so far, and a wonderful time spent with family, just relaxing and getting to see each other for the day. Some interesting things have happened, and I'm not sure how exactly to describe how I feel...in a good way.

That's great to hear Seano! I saw where you're at BGSU....are you familiar with a little town called Lakeside? it's east of Port Clinton...right on the lake.....I grew up there and had several friends that went to BGSU.....good school! Sounds like you have some high ambitions - good for you!

Well, I got to spend Christmas day with my brother drinking way too much bourbon and then got in a screaming/cussing fight with my husband - Merry Christmas at my family's house woo hoo!!

I'm mixing up 3 gallons of new SW to be used for a water change now and another one next week. I was going to test my water parameters, but I know they will be off anyway because I didn't do a WC last week. So testing now won't really tell me anything.

I might buy some stuff to finish the tank cabinet off and make it look nice (wood finish, edge banding).

I still have some equipment from sale from previous tank build(s).

P.S. - for those wondering, the iwagumi pico planted tank build is on hold. That's why I haven't posted in the thread for a while.

I may have heard of it before but that's about it. Never been there, don't know anybody who lives there. I have some friends from BG that live in Port Clinton though.

Yay, new heater came today. It's an API Rena 50w heater. It's pretty big at ~8" x 1.5" x 1". this is partially due to the middle being hollow all the way down so it can be adapted to fit on the filter intake of API HOB filters. I'm using the heater by itself, so this is not needed for my purposes.

However, it is rather heavy and seems to be quite well built. The outer casing is plastic (I think), but the heater itself seems to be one solid piece and the bottom end has a slotted cover on it so fish don't get trapped inside. The heater can heat within a range of 69* - 93* F with a plastic dial on the front. It's easy to adjust, and a red LED light turns on to show when the heater is heating the water (lowering or raising temperature).

Added bonus: it's all black, so it's hardly noticeable against the black background of the tank, and next to the black skimmer.

I ordered Salifert Flatworm Exit from Marine Depot. I'll be doing 2 doses with a 20% water change after each.

I have the skimmer pump soaking in vinegar right now to remove any crud which may have been keeping it from turning on.

So my dad did a 2 gallon waterchange, one dose of flatworm exit, and did a second 2g waterchange. Would it be ok to do another dose this weekend, or is it not effective to do them that far apart (length of time ~5 days) ?

Says he also removed some of the largest aitasia, for good this time.

Cool, sounds like he has become quite the hobbyist or is on the way.

What type of FW? Why 2 doses?

5 days does not seem like it would be an issue and probably less stressful on the tank overall.

    Thanks, he sure has. :)

I was talking to Norg about this and he suggested that 2 would be best, as it doesn't kill FW in the larval stage. Is this not correct? I have not done a lot of research on this subject, myself. If i had more time I would.

    What type of FW Seano?

I used it once and had no recurrence, but my problem was not severe and I removed many of them prior to treatment.

If Norg communicated that I would sure follow his lead, he knows his sps.
