I couldn't find an exact ID from Google. They are a dark red-orange colour. 1 point in front, 2 points at the rear...mainly in the sandbed when I saw them, some on the coral. Monti is the only thing effected, but it was bad.

That red acan lord has been bothered by aiptasisa for a long time and hasn't completely opened up since about a month after I got it last year. Whenever I get them they seem to come back.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Actually considering your dad is a novice I would say it's going well and headed in the right direction.

Thanks, the things I am concerned about weren't caused by him in any way though, more likely just bad luck (for me).

So the tissue died completely on a large section the the orange monti cap. Bare skeleton can be seen, but about half the coral (all the way around) had brightly coloured tissue growing back over and still expanding outward. Picks to come tonight.

I'm still having problems with aiptasia, and now two kinds of invasive sponge (pink and white, the same kinds I had in the previous tank). I don't really want to remove the rock unless it's my last resort. I've already tried using kalk paste on the aiptasia. It sort of works, but then more come back later in spirts.

    Opinions?

Blarg. I don't know. I really want to get some shrimp for it, but I don't think now is the time. Dad might be moving sometime soon and I don't want to make changes until after that. I will be sure to keep that in mind though!

Isn't there a nudibranch that can handle that aptasia for you?
