Securing live rock

    I have some 2-3 ft pillars with nothing but drilling and pvc with a very small ammount of tie straps.

    I didnt even think of being top heavy ;D. But you should be fine, especially if you have the pvc go deep into the rock. The more pvc on the top rock the more stable it will be. But make sure you epoxy it on the base :eek:

    For a tall rock scape like that you may be able to drill holes in both rocks that you are trying to attach together as mentioned above. But, with drilling holes in both of the bottom and top rock, you can insert a small piece of 1/4" pvc to act as a "dowel" or "rod" and epoxy it together. I don't see it getting and more stable than that unless it was one solid piece of rock! Just an idea

    These are good ideas. I think that, with also eggcrate & zip-ties at the top, I should be good. I will come back to you guys if I need help when it comes to actually building it.

    I am half way through my aquascape and I have been drilling it and using nylon threaded rod, zip ties and fixing to order some coraline reef epoxy from bsr to complete. I will have pics of the final aquascape at the begining of next week hopefully
