I have the BRS 6 stage Chloramine Deluxe RO/DI system.

Will this filter from Marine Depot fit the sediment section?
    0.5 Micron Sediment Replacement Filter

Should a person go with 1 or .5 micron? BRS sells 1 or 5 Micron?
My Unit is beeping at me to change stage one.

I would just get it from BRS but I'm placing an order with MD soon. ;D

I prefer a 0.5 or even a pleated 0.2 micron filter. The 0.2 has 10x the surface area since it is pleated, has lower headloss even though it protects the billions of pores in the carbn block better and can even be carefully rinsed and reused a few times if you have particulate problems. The whole purpose of the sediment filter is to protect the carbon so it can adsorb chlorine and volatiles and protect the membrane.

When you consider you can see 40 microns with the unaided human eye, 5 microns doesn't do much, about as effective as a screen door. 1 microns is much better, 5 times better but 0.5 is 10x better and so on. If cabons pores are plugged or fouled it is next to worthless and allows chlorine to break thru. This is why some vendors still insist on multiple carbons, one is sacrificial since it is doing the work of the sediment filter and the last one is doing all the work. You should really only need one sediment filter and one carbon block, even wth chloramines since the carbon is not what removes the chloramines, only the chlorine portion while the DI takes care of the ammonia portion. Todays modern extruded carbon blocks are made up of multiple carbon types and are more than sufficient for chloramines just like chlorine.

THanks.. It doesn't list the size. Are about all of these RO systems the same length? I think I saw one on BRS was 10".

Most all vendors use 10" nominal length filters.
