I'm thinking of getting a Bubble King 200. Any advantage to laying down some more bucks and getting the Deluxe model?

Is the external one any better than the internal?

And, what about those self-cleaning heads? Major money, but geez, what a wonderful luxury. Anybody tried a self-cleaning head on their skimmer? I think they must be new.

I ordered one today with my Alpha Cone 300. I'll post a review after I've got them running.

that was crazy. there is a video somewhere with a guy showing his reef setup and he has a 6ft skimmer that cleans the head every few hours. I clean my head off when I check the tank a few times a day. I just block the airvalve for a few seconds.

Any Bubble King will work great. Don't go too big though, I was told by RE to not get the BK-Mini 200 because it would be too much for my system and I would not be happy with the (over)performance. That said, the external vs. internal is said to have the same performance, it just depends on your indiviual need and space constraints. The self cleaning heads are way too much for my blood. I had a hard enough time coughing up $865 for my BK Mini 180, and that was a great deal. I can't even imagine spending another $1100 for the head, no thank you. They are definitely available in the US though. One of my LFS carries them, they also have them online.

It amazes me how they can ask so much money for a piece of plastic!
