I have a friend who keeps gliders that have bonded with him, however, they (1) do not ride on his shoulder for more than a few seconds before they hop off and then try to scamper off. He has also had one go missing for several hours in the walls of his apartment (2) They have never "played" with him. (3) Every time I looked in on his gliders, I smelled them and they were far from juveniles and he kept their tank extremely clean. His main complaint about the gliders was that they kept him awake some nights because they tend to make a lot of noise once it gets dark and he had to have someone feed them daily when he went on vacation.

well how old were they when he got them?..well it sounds like he doesn't spend enough time wit them cuz u should play with them and keep them in a pouch too for bonding...well it takes a lot of bondng and time with them til they ride on ur shoulder and not fly off..the owner of the ones im gonna buy has spent a lot of time wit them...ya well everything animal smells, but they are not even close to as bad as a dog or cat can be.ya they do make noise at night and bark sometimes but it's a cute bark and if im already asleep then it won't bother me..and u just have to kind of get used to it...

He got them when they were juveniles and carried them around in a pouch until they bonded with him. He has spent enormous amounts of time bonding with them but they still won't sit on his shoulder or play with him. They're not afraid of him and they recognize him and eat out of his hand but, unlike a cat or dog, they are not "companions". If you are buying animals that have already bonded with the seller, you might have problems getting them to bond to you as they are already adults. If he is not selling you the ones that he has bonded with, there are no guaranties that the animals that you receive will behave the same way. Nature simply doesn't work that way and every animal is different, as can be seen by the way my friend's gliders behave. Not trying to turn you off of the idea, just trying to let you know that not everything goes as planned when it comes to mother nature and her animals.

but if they bark for him, then that means that they luv him...does he have a lot of toys for him...well he doesn't play wit them that much cuz he dones't want them to bond wit him, no sorry i was talking about the young gliders, dad, he is 4 yrs. old..so it takes some time...but he says that the young ones that im gettting luv to play and will even wake up during the day to play..they are very calm and don't bite but they do nibble sometimes, so they are nicely trained..the ones im getting aren't adults, they are only 3 1/2 months old, there in the teenage phase which is the best time to get them a couple of other owners have told me...ya i know nature is very unpredictable, as i have found out in the past..thanx tho for giving me advice

you could get sea horses, they will let you pet them... or an octopuss they only live about 18 mos.
Mabe racheldex could send you one of the previous residents of her tank like the bubble wrap or a dust bunny

I think this has come full circle. Didn't this whole thing start with him wanting an Octopuss?
