well as I posted earlier on kcbrads post on moon light,I came across these 12 volt led automotive leds.I decided to go back for them and see how they would work,I took my 12 volt fan power supply and hooked them up to it and WOW are they bright8)8)...the good thing is for those of you out there looking for moon lights to put under your canopy or fixture these are great.they are slim in design and should stick anyplace with 3m double sided tape(I say 3m cause I found theirs to be the strongest)..I found them in auto zone and they were 14 bucks for 12 leds per square(set)..

Ok..I did not place them over my DT.BUT my 10 gal stunt tank stood in for my 72 gal..I just placed them w/some wood above the tank to get a good idea..almost looks like actinics on this small tank..on the 72 or larger should be just enough to light them up...
I do have to say this..before anyone else goes out to do this let me leave them on for a few days or so to see how they hold up..if they hold up after a week or so I guess they should be a go....

well its been about 6 days with these LED`s.they seem to be holding up well..but they are very bright for moonlights.even with one set they are pretty bright..I think if you have a small tank maybe 10-20 ish gals, these could work as your actinics..foe the price and if you have nothing to do I suggest trying this out.....good luck and have fun..

Any idea how to hook them up to a system that doesnt have a 12v power supply? Our built in fan is 110v so we dont have a 12v power supply anywhere. Is that something you could purchase?
