I know that fresh water people need a place too and some saltys are freshies also but I start to get confused when I see how many gold fish are in your tank and I am like none or they would be dead in a day. Then I see some strange gold fish catagory. I have no problem but maybe when I search for new posts there could be search for salt or fresh.
I still love 3reef but the whole reason I came here is to talk about saltwater and was tired of sifting through fresh water posts to find something I was intersed in.
This is just a sugestion but maybe we could separate the conversations a bit better. I would sugest maybe a site called 3wood but that is probably taken by golfers somewhere or maybe 3mud.
The other sugestion is if some one replys to a old post say over a year old maybe the back grounds could change to be some kind of warning to others that information maybe out of date.
    Just some ideas.

Good idea on the backgrounds changing color for old posts.
I think the fresh should stay for the reason that many of us that currently do SW/reef tanks once did fresh, so we could answer some general questions. For example, I wouldn't log into a FW forum when I no longer have a FW setup, but I could advise on treating a goldfish for a bacterial infection or what pH to keep water at for african chiclids.

you can choose what forum you search in. the majority of this site is reef there just isn't that much of a reason to make a seperate fresh site.
also you probably should realize if theres a goldfish in the tank its not a saltwater tank

edit: for the new post search there next to each posts name is the forum it is in. just don't click on what says freshwater. problem solved lol

yes but when I search I search for new posts and all get lumped together. Also when someone post it always don't say in title of post that this is a fresh tank. I know it says it off to the side what catagory but i guess I just have lazy eyes and don't read everyting. just would be nice to color code or somthing more outstanding or flashy, something that screams hey I am a freash post or hey I am a salt post. just a suggestion nothing more.

not complaining just suggesting. Don't want to bother matt about it unless there are a few others that would like to see the change. some people might like the site this way and it is really no bother to me.

i think its a cool idea.
im just unsure how much modification of the code it would take to do it. like i said usually these freshwater post don't come up that much. recently there has been much more then usual, if this trend continues it may be worth it.

also i may i voice if it occurs i think fresh posts should be a soothing green.
