now i have no idea if this is possible, but could someone good with wiring knowledge dismantle this and turn each MH into a solo fixture using the ballasts that come with it, just so i wouldnt have to buy new lighting for the 2 tanks? If its possible could somone explain abit? thanks in advance for any info

I would think you may be able to do that. But my question is, why are you separating your tank into two smaller tanks, if they will be right next to each other?

Anything is possible, but to make 2 decent fixtures out of 1 large one your going to need to know how to work with metal, solder, have general electronics knowledge, and be a tried and true DIY'er. You will probably spend more on your DIY project than you would buying 2 new fixtures after selling your current one. if that dosent bother you and you have the skills and experience to handle this by all means start the planning process, this could be interesting.

I think the biggest issue will be the reflectors. If it will be mounted in a hood, you may be ok, but if not, I don't know how you will do that make it look anything decent w/o a break and some sheet aluminum.
