I just wanted to post this cause I'm sure some of you might be working at retail stores and such and with alot of people going out to shop for the holidays - I wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the

Persons With Disabilities Act which also includes people with service animals.

    Service Animal Information

The other main reason I'm posting about this is that my mom is disabled and as a service dog (a min-pin) and people have been getting snotty about letting her shop cause they have a "no pets" policy..

Take a few minutes, and read that tho. So you will be aware incase your going to a store and someone is getting a hard time cause of their "service dog"

It is interesting that you post this because I am a certified vet tech and have been helping a man with his 2 dogs a lab and a shar-pei to train them for service dogs for him. He has had his shoulder broken had a heart atack and dislocated his arm do to being forced to leave a building because no dogs are allowed. He is in the process of suing different places that have caused him grief. I am there to testify that these dogs are not harmful to society and he needs them. I am also there to tell them I am helping train him and his dogs!

There are alot of great sites to help people with gaining a service dog. Specially if your disabled. Tonight she was pretty much denied access to a store that my company is a vendor for. So yea, I'm going to have an interesting day tomorrow when she calls the Arkansas State Attorney's office to file a suite.

When my firends shoulder was broken he was sitting in the middle of the mall, people watching. He wasn't in a store or causing problems and the security guy told him to leave dogs were not allowed. He tried to tell him service dogs are allowed and the security guy "ushered" very strongly out and broke his shoulder!

We get them on the airplane all the time. They behave better than the people.

Mom takes the Service Dog thing seriously...

That's him! And that's how he stays with her the entire time.

And here is the newborn that will be going into training as a Medical Alert Service dog as well. We named him "Warlock" (my nick-name) heheh..

We sell min-pins for service dog usage as well. ;)

But seriously, people need to be educated. I just hope that more people will read that link in the first post and have information in the event someone is being told "NO" ..

most people know about those rules.if they don't and refuse to listen ,well i guess they will learn the hard way.meaning getting sued.i was under the impression i was donating my $800 dog to be trained and then used to help the disabled, but he kept it after it was certified and uses the license to take it places other people can't.he is not disabled in any way.is it hard to get them certified?

i wonder what the statistics are for people trying to pass off the pets as service animals, because i wouldn't be above trying it if i was in a town where none of the hotels allowed animals.
but i have been informed i didn't realize the didn't have to be certified
