I am looking for a set it and forget it heater. The ones I have always have to be adjusted when the room is warm or cold. I just want a heater that when I set it to say 79.2 that it stays there all year long until I change it. Anyone have one of these. If so then give me a link to purchase...please. I am afraid I will buy another one just like the ones I have and be out the money.:-/

I bought one a year or so ago for my 72 bowfront and haven't touched it since I set it. If I remember to look at the brand when I get home I'll let you know -- it's been 79 degrees through all season.

That is what I need. I have to adjust temp about every other day. I'm afraid I will loose something with the water changing all the time.

Do you need it for water changes or does the tank get cold on it's own? I use a heater to warm my RO/DI water before adding the salt for water changes. MY tank only gets down to 75 with no heater when the lights are off. My problem is keeping it cool.

I have heaters in both my pre-mixed saltwater and my top-off R/O water. It's the tank itself that the temp keeps changing in and I have 2 200 watt heaters on it.

Ok I made it a point to check out what my heater is --- and low and behold I cleaned out under my cabinet and threw out the box last week. The wording on the heater itself I can't really make out --- about all I can read is ALL AQUARIUM (big help I know). I bought this at PetCo and was rated for 100 gallons or 150W maybe but it has the temperature control on top so you can turn it to the temperature you want it to keep. After a day of it staying on the 78/79 mark I've never touched it again. It was affordable and works great -- except the suction cups drive me crazy 5 days out of the year.

Sorry I wish I could be more help

I like the Visi-Therm Stealth Heater. I put two 200 watt ones in my 100 gallon, and the temp has stayed at 80 from that point on. It has been around a week and the temp has not moved from 80. The best heaters ive had. I have some whisper ones from wal-mart in my 55, and it is always going for like 75-76 at night to 82-84 in the day. I would like it to stay at 84 for the discus. Im gonna replace them with a stealth heater. Plus these heaters are black, and dont have a light so you dont have the little orange light flashing all night, lol. Hope this helps,

    Michael

Thanks for the link. I have a programmable T-stat at home so I at night I cool the house down and when I do I don't want the temp in the tank to change. It wanders in a 3 to 4 degree range now all the time. There is never two days in a row that I check the temp that it is the same. I am also looking at the titanium one from Premium Aquatics too. Will probably make my decision today on the model.
