Do I need substrate? What about power heads? Lights? I have an extra 10 gallon tank that I want to make into my QT. Any info would be awesome. Thanks

I like running them bare bottom. It makes it easier to clean and if you ever have to run copper it would kill the sand anyway.

I would run a bubble filter. When your QT is not in use take the fowm pad from the bubble filter out and put it in your DT sump. This will keep the bacteria fresh. the other reason I like these for QT is if you ever have a need to raise brine for a picky fish you can raise them without fear of them being chopped up in powerheads or power filters.

    Any old light will do.

Sounds good. What about a nitrogen cycle?

As long as you keep the sponge in your DT sump anytime your not using the QT you should never see a nitrogen cycle. I would get the bubble filter now so you can get the sponge cooking.

Is there anywhere in your DT you can store the sponge while your QT is not in use?
