I have a peninsular 40gal breeder rimless tank and am placing my vortech on the right side/front side wall. The overflow and plumbing is on the left/back side wall. So i am trying to figure out how i want to position my vortech pump so the cord isnt strung up on the rim of the tank. I know that your supposed to position the motor so the wire goes up and to use the adhesive mounting tabs above the motor so if it falls it wont swing and hit the glass or fall to the floor. But what i have brainstormed is to still us the adhesive mounting tabs but to attach the motor to these tabs with some clear fishing line. So the fishing line will cradle the motor. I want the cord to travel down and not up. The problem i found with positioning the motor so the cord travels up is that on a rimless tank it looks really bad, especially along the front on my type of tank. What do yall think?

Seems you would have to have the line close to the cord and the cord is close to the glass. Seems maybe that the motor could still swing down.... The line goes around the motor, but when it pops off it comes to the side, slackens, motor swings down, and now the line will only catch the cord... do you get what I mean.

Why can't you position the cord how it is supposed to be... but then run it down the side of the motor and still fasten it down. A fastener would be on top, but run the cord were it will naturally curve to the side and then run it down the side of the motor.

I don't know how that would look just a suggestion. I know the cord is thick and sort of stiff.

Why can't you put it on the back side right side to go down the same side of the tank the other direstion and it will still force stuff to the overflow?

I have seen people run them down or straight back (90deg to rim) Whatever way you can get to look best and have confidence that if it falls it wont hurt anything.

    good luck

Oooh!...or... you could still put a adhesive patch above the motor, but then put one on the back of the motor.... then you could udse fishing line to tie it off between the two. Does that make sense?

actually yeah Powerman! That makes a **** ton of sense. I am kinda picky about how clean this tank looks.

The notches on the back of the motor should keep the line in place.

And you should be picky about how a rimless looks. They are great looking tanks.

If you can manage to tie the line taught, then the motor should never fall off. The motor rides on the lip of that mat. It carries the most weight. So the line should just hold it to that mat and you should be good to go.

Sweet! The only problem is "IF" the wet side pops off. If that happens the dry side can fall off. I had a wet side that popped off and would not stay on.. but Vortech fixed it pronto and that was the only problem I ever had with them.
