So Ive been doing this for 3 years ...I still feel so novice. I turned my LS tank to reef in March with polys (or zoas ...not sure). a month ago I added a medium frag of pulsing xenia. They pulsed in the store so well. Once in my tank, they do, but very little. I have them in the part of my tank with the least current. Theyre splitting and starting to attach to the rock ...seem very happy, tubes extending to the light. feeding dt's phytoplankton every other day. is there something wrong here?

Also I bought 2 shrooms ...1 made it, one didnt. I plan to buy a few and net them onto the rock. Do they reproduce themselves as zoas do?

Also ...I had 3 emeralds for 6 months during my first and only bout of green hair algea. They ate some but all died. What could have caused this?

On an amusing note, Ive had my OC clown for 2 yrs. Hes always been a fun character ::). I cleaned the LR with a toothbrush today and for the first time he rammed my hand 10 or more times ..."get outa my territory!"

shrooms will spilt most of the time. WHat i do to reproduce shrooms is i put them threw my return pump, they get all chopped up and one shroom turns into like 20. i would get a skimmer ASAP

a shroom can get chopped up and still survive and propigate? Wow, thats cool to know. A skimmer is in the works ...My space is extremely limited so Im looking into a small over-the-side skimmer.

looks small and convenient. $$ isnt an issue but space is. Ive seen several that are cylindrical in shape and most are under $100 and advertise their suitability for 30G and under tanks. Any thoughts?

Skip the nano skimmer get the AquaC remora with the maxijet if you can fit it. It's not much more, and has a larger capacity. I have that on my 16 gallon. So easy to use! They're virtually maintenance free.
