I've got this annoying issue with the ball valve.

I set it correctly and 10-15 minutes later its either restricting water going down or sucking too much water.

Movements of mm makes a huge difference...

Shall i change the valve for the same and hope the issue stops or try a different type of valve?

    ( 40MM ball valve )

    Thanks

get a gate valve if you're trying to tune it to a syphon on a drain.

Gate valve is immensely better. Make sure its not metal though.

Is it on the return to the sump?

I don't use one on either side, b/c if you restrict the return to the sump, you may be mopping up water where the DT is.

I do put a little coarse foam in my intank overflow to suppress some noise.

    good luck

What are you trying to throttle? If it is a return pump you don't need to be that precise and a ball valve is sufficient. If it is a normal overflow it should never ever have a valve or restriction in it to begin with.
You control the flow by adjusting the pump not the overflow which should be 100% unrestricted or you run the risk of exactly what you are seeing, the return pump determines the overflow rate and elevation in the display.

No its not on the return line , its on the overflow to the sump.

The pump i have is a 2500 (549 Gallons an hour ) , if i leave the valve open then i get massive amounts of noise , lower water level in the overflow and micro bubbles.

The water level in my sump is correctly configured so if the overflow got blocked , it wouldnt overfill the DT.

Cant find a pvc gate valve anywhere ( not based in US ) , any UK members know where to pick one up?

REMOVE the valve from the overflow or leave it completely open!!!
If the water level in the display is not high enough then you need to adjust your overflow box height or get a larger pump. NEVER EVER, and I cannot stress enough, NEVER restrict the overflow if you have a normal single overflow. There are new designs that use two overflow lines and one has a valve but this is entirely different.

Open the valve all the way as it is intended to be.
