Just thought I would post a few pics of my new shallow frag tank I set up. It's 24x48x8 glass tank. I drilled the tank so it would accept a 1.5" bulhead for my drain and a 3/4 hole for my return. Simply bought a crappy petco 29g tank and glued in the baffles, running a used mag 9.5 pump I had laying around for the return.

For lights Im running a coralife 48" fixture which has 2 250watt SE halides 10k and 4 96w actinics. Skimmer is a ASM miniG I love ASM skimmers, they are simple to use and work great.

Feel free to ask any questions. Light fixture in the pic is my nova extreme I had on a 75g tank.

Now I just need to let it cycle in and it will be frag mania :)

    Nice setup..
Are you fragging for your own use or do you sell/trade?

Nice! I run an aquarium maintenance company. When a customers tank gets too overgrown we frag alot of the corals and put them in our frag tank until another customer wants to buy them.

I would absolutely love to have an online store and sell fish/corals from my home/warehouse. The maintenance business is getting stressful!

That is a sweet tank. Did you build it yourself or where did you get it from?

again, this is an awsome setup, i can only dream one day i have money for this. but if i ever do id rather plumb it through the display tank because then you dont need to dose 2 separate tanks, dont need to test water for 2 seperate tanks and no extra filters and it just seems more cost efficient. AND from my understanding you wouldnt need to cycle the frag tank because your just using the display tank water. Plus, the frag tank would increase the total water volume in the display tank. But very nice! k+, very inspirational

Plumbing into your display tank is totally going to defeat the purpose of a frag/grow out tank. Grow out tanks should be plumbed by themselves for optimum water quality. Water changes are less frequent since you will not have fish pooping all day long. If you keep your mag/cal/alk up you can put off water changes for a much much longer period of time.

Also if your big tank crashes.....by by nice corals.

I would not plumb together but that's just me

Awesome set up. That would make a sweet clam tank too.
