There is a lot of WRONG stories about this event. I live in central florida and what several local radio stations and sea world have said, is that this was not in front of an audience during a show. Also, the first death happened in canada when the animal hadn't even been trained yet or been around a trainer and one jumped in with it. The second person died because they snuck into sea world at night and got in the tank with the thing. Bad yes but the first two asked for it. This last one is a tragedy yes but it was an ACCIDENT. Trainers know that they aren't supposed to splash around. She slipped and splashed the water which triggered the animal's natural wild instinct. I agree that dangerous animals will always be dangerous but media sensationalism has gotten the best of this story. Jack Hanna spoke on the radio this morning clearing up some issues with this case. But none the less, these trainers do what they love and wouldn't want their legacy to pass on with them. Sea world has done an amazing job educating the public on wild life and "Killer" whales in general. Just like astronauts and soldiers, people know the risk when they sign up for these things, but their passion by far outweighs the risk.

I'm pretty sure every article I've read has said it was in front of an audience. Not a full show audience, but a smaller group of people were watching nonetheless. It was during a Dine with the Whales or Dine with something show where maybe 15-30 (idk and idc) were watching, some from above, and some from underwater viewing. Maybe some people when they think of "audience" think of the gigantic stadium filled with people watch dolphins do flips and stuff. I still see a small group of people watching a scheduled event as an "audience".

Why has nobody mentioned the fact that they feel bad that a human being has died? If the tables were turned and this trainer killed the whale not a single person would give a **** about the trainer. Why are people insensitive to this trainer who lost her life in a tragic accident? I say kill the whale and BBQ him. :D

Ummm, Nope. I sent an email to several friends immediately before any names were even known asking them to pray for the family of a whale trainer and gave a brief description of what happened.

If you go through all 4 pages of this thread you will see that not once does anybody make any reference to the trainer and feeling remorse or bad for what happened. That is what I am referring to.

    Are you the moral police?

Don't see anything *I* need to be remorseful about... I wasn't involved.
