my father has kept sharks before, before i was born and he knows a bit about them but there was a service taking care of them as he had the tank installed in his office buildings lobby. im pretty sure were gonna do this and its going to be at least 1200 gallons, also what about multiple sharks in a tank, is that a no no with larger sharks like nurse or black tipped? what are some other sharks like black tips that are tank suitable.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You might actually be very hard pressed to find the type of shark you want, I believe there are restrictions now on their collection and sales.

There are some rays that are very attractive and active and that do better in an aquarium.

I have only kept some smaller sharks found off the California coast they all require a temperate system to do well. These shark where kept at a small public aquarium in Orange County. My favorite was the dog shark.

i'm sorry, i dont want to seem like a debbie downer but this is just a bad idea. all around.

Sounds like your going to do it regardless and i do wish you the best of luck but i wouldn't recommend it, or support the idea of doing this to that type of animal. Please research.

    best of luck.

    ^ Debbie downer.

Check out a wobbygong shark. They have one at this restaurant by my house and they're realllyyy tight. Or horned shark (kinda like a cat though). There are sites I know of that sell these sharks, not sure about restrictions or anything Corailline mentioned though.

I think you should take a good look at getting a good sized moray.. I think they're absolutely amazing looking. Seeing it swim around and open their huge mouths exposing the teeth of theirs.. Pretty intimidating swimming with one.

im sorry tadpole but i dont understand, if the shark has more than enough room to swim how is it a bad idea? i know the ocean is always a better place for a shark but its better than the lfs selling it to a guy that doesnt know any better and puts a nurse shark in a 150 gallon tank.

I think it would work. Provided their big enough. It really depends which type of shark yall end of getting, and what it's diet consists ya know.

i havent gotten any official numbers yet and the gaps are really big, were thinking anywhere from 1200-6000 gallons, also on livestock we are pretty much clueless as to which to officially put on the stock list. maybe someone could put a stock list together of what they would put in it if they were in this situation. i am very eager to do this, this is the first interest my father has had in this hobby since he got rid of his tanks 20 years ago.
