He's probabllyyy not going to be buying a 5 ft shark at the start. Its going to be small. It would take yearsss for a shark to grow 10 ft. I'm guessing wherever you saw that nurse was in a huge aquarium, and was caught from the wild not much larger than when you saw it.

smoothhounds are native to CA and are cool water like 60 degrees so mixing them with sharks from 80 degree water = not happening:(

true but multiple sharks that would all get 4-5 feet over time with tons of reef fish does sound like a bit much to me:-/

they are in the pacific but not on the coast. so more like temperate which if i had the tank at 72-74 all would be good.

I don't have any personal experience with powder blue tangs, but I've heard from people around the site they tend to be ich magnets... Just a thought. But hey, if I was you, I would try out anything you desire... It it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out.. Lesson learned.

I wasn't under the impression there would be "tons" of reef in this tank.. I think your over estimating the growth of these sharks.

You do realize we are talking close to 4,000 gallons, right?

I was pretty sure there wouldn't be a reef? It is a fish only(for the most part)tank, correct? There won't be "tons of fish".

What are the dimensions of this tank? (I looked through the thread and didn't see it anywhere.) Any pics of where this is going in your new house and how soon will the house be done so you can start getting this going? Just curious...
