I've hatched quite a few sharks in my day. On occasion the will eat. However, most of the time I've had to force-feed them. Hopefully you won't have to do that. Considering the number of sharks I've had, it's pretty funny that I've never been bitten by anything other than babies that I was force-feeding. ;D My sharks were in a 850. The LR wasn't in the tank, it was in a 150g Rubbermaid sump.

It's pretty crazy the difference in price cost! I also heard if you plan on buying a baby shark it's better to hatch it yourself. I guess they're more liklely to eat and adapt better. It's sad I've seen some pretty skinny babies that don't look good.
My bigger shark eats sizes about half an inch. We cut up a bunch and out it in the tank for everyone to eat. The stingrays LOVE skid as well. I'll have to take video one day of them all eating it's pretty funny and crazy.

haha That's pretty funny! My first one ate really quickly so I didn't have to worry about force feeding. Hopefully this one will do the same. I'll have to update you on that one. I'm surprised I have been stung my rays yet. I'm always messing with them, but they never seem to care.lol

Honestly not sure? Probably a 500 gal would be great for them. Since mine are babies they're ok for now in the 125 with a lot of room. But my husband and I are planning on getting a 5oo gal for them in the near future. The sharks I believe will reach around 2 and a half feet once fully grown.

I would say 200 gallons for one. If you put the LR in a sump, you could get away with 2. (However, this would be a custom 200 that is wide and long as opposed to tall). You also want a very fine sand because sharp sands will scratch their bellies and can lead to bacterial infections. You need to have a lot of LR or bioballs. Their waste is substantially all Urea. This is not poo that has to be broken down over time and produces Ammonia. It's basically 100% Ammonia right from the start. You need substantial nitrifying bacteria to handle that.

I have had Blue Spot, Sea of Cortez, and Bat Rays with my sharks with no issue except for once. (One of my employees put a new blue spot into the tank without feeding the sharks first. I had a shark nab him and I actually jumped into the tank punching him. He let go of the ray and both the shark and the ray still live to this day). The bat ray was a rescue and was near death when I got him. I had to jump in the tank naked every morning and force-feed him and give him an antibiotic shot. As much as he didn't like this, he never once used his spike on me.
