I know some others that do the same thing. The only trick seems to be water changes.

What other filtration are you using? ATS? All natural? Very interesting...

I still have a lot of ole school ways of thinking and for a smaller tank such as mine I honestly believe that with bi-weekly water changes I'll be exporting way more then any lil skimmer ever could. I've tried 2 nano skimmers and IMO both useless and a waste of my money. Sadly I allowed myself to be swayed by the majority. Never taking into account that the majority are running tanks twice if not 3 times the size of mine. Many of which are also keeping sps and we all know what kind of water conditions they like.

I change 26% of my water bi-weekly. The majority of my corals are softies and LPS + 1 clam. I've got 4 fish under 3" I run a fuge. JBJ ATO.

    Time will tell.....and I'll be watching :)

You should be fine with no skimmer. We shall see :)

I have been running my 30g for 3 years with nothing but LR, a shallow sand bed and waterchanges. It's annoying and I don't keep anything more difficult than a frogspawn, but it's no more trouble than a weekly or at bare minimum a biweekly water change and careful feeding habits. Good luck with your tank and remember to keep some water made up for emergencies, it really helps when running a low tech system.

My 10gal has no skimmer and no sump or refuge. Just an empty fluval 205 cannister with carbon. I actually do weekly water changes instead of bi-weekly. 20% weekly. I'm also keeping sps. Poccilloporas, birdsnests, and a digitata. 1 clownfish, clown goby and red spotted trimma. Who says you need a skimmer with sps. Lol. I agree that a skimmer for a nano is just a waste of money.
