Hey guys, I have been keeping softies since 2yrs now and now in my new tank, im going for mixed reef. i already have 1 acro, 1 brain and 1 pagoda coral with some softies. my Topup water has too low ph so i add 1 table spoon of sodium carbonate to my 1gal topup water jug to increase kh and ph which keeps my ph stable at 8.2-8.3 in my main tank but now i wana shift to Kalk. So can you tell me how much kalk should i add if im adding 1tbs of sodium carbonate? any table or calculator for it?

    Not that I've ever seen.
I top up all my tanks nightly with kalk water mixed 2t per gallon of water and siphon into the sumps after lights out.
Some tanks evaporate faster than others and some I put fans in to make for more evaporation so I can add more kalk water.
The only way I know to find what works is to actually do it and test, using more if first amounts are insufficient.

I'm starting with 1/2 tsp/G and maybe up it to 1 tsp/G, but I'll prob keep it low so I don't have the issues you can with Kalk.

An important note on this that I've read, MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR LEVELS WHERE YOU WANT THEM BEFORE YOU START DOSING KALK, or else I guess an can enhance the problem, so dose up your cal, mag, ph etc slowly over a week and get it where you want it before you start up;)

Yes, Kalk is a MAINTENANCE protocol not a booster of levels.
I'm assuming though that you have the levels where you want them judging by your original post.

my Cal is 360, mag is 1250, alk is 8 and ph is 8.2. ill increase my cal using cal. chloride to 450, rest i feel is good as my sps and lps are doing great. ill maintain my levels for 2 weeks before starting with kalk. i know the consequences. i know some people think my kh is low but if i increase my kh, my ph rises dangerously to 8.5 (i use sodium carbonate in top up). But as the corals are doing great, im not bothered just concerned a bit when the amt of corals increase.

as far as evaporation is concerned, i am using 1gal jug. but might replace it with 2gal so i need to replace it only onweekend. the thing is i want to automize my entire system and i dont have time to make the solution every morning and then keep for driping at night. well incase if calcium is insufficient from kalk, i can add cal.chloride too. and as far as mag in concerned, that can be dosed every weekend.
