Shimmer effect?

so 12 bulbs in total? The ebay has 90 LED in total.

 

hmm i would try it out, but ATM i have no way of buying those. No money:-[
is there somewhere where they sell them that i can get a link to, so i can go back to it when i have something to spend lol?

oh cool.. ill have those in my list even if they dont do the desired effect, ill be adding a bit of extra shine to my tank i hope8)

 

Most cheap LEDs won't achieve the desired effect your looking for. I did a lot of research on this and looked at a lot of different LED supplement fixtures but found that they aren't powerful enough to not be washed out by the T5s. There are some LED supplements that would work, but they are relatively expensive. Surface agitation can add a little bit of a shimmer effect, but you don't really see it. I don't know if there is a solution that would give you what you want, plus be priced reasonably.

 

That's one of those things that you sacrifice with t5's over MH's....but on the other hand, you get cooler burning lights and less electricity usage....I have seen some local folks use an LED DIY project to supplement for the shimmer effect, but IMHO it really doesn't give their tanks that much shimmer compared to MH's.
