I'm planning on ordering some snails. They say they'll ship on Tuesday and delivery would be 2-3 days.
I can only be home on Friday. If they're delivered on Thursday afternoon, what are their chances of living until I get them in my tank Friday morning?
I'm thinking good since it would only be 3 days. My wife will be home and can bring the box inside when she gets home on Thursday around 6pm but will leave them in the shipping box for me to deal with Friday morning.

If they are delivered on day 2 (Thursday) they would be outside from whatever time they're delivered until 6pm. I live near indianapolis and the temp will probably be in the 30s

why not postpone the purchase till you can be present at delivery? otherwise explain to your wife how to do a basic acclimation (float baggy) then dump them in, that would be a better option for the snails...my 2 cents...

by the way how much and what are you getting and for what system?

I agree with swiss, I would either ask for them to be shipped out for a Friday delivery so maybe Wednesday or have your wife put them in the tank for you, snails and general CUC don't need much if any kind of acclimation other than temperature regulation

like swiss said float the bag for 15min then put them in :)

Reef cleaners said "Priority Mail is a 2-3 day*delivery*time, so we can aim for a 2 day window, but cannot get arrival on a specific day"
I'm a firefighter and between my normally scheduled shifts and when I could be called in I do not have 2 consecutive days where I can guarantee I will be there for both of them.
It's taken a lot of work to even get my wife to the point where she will feed them flake food when I'm gone. Even floating the bag and dumping them might be beyond her comfort zone. :)
I was thinking since they say delivery is 2-3 days that I should be safe to leave them in the shipping container until day 3 if they are delivered on day 2. All this may be for nothing since they could arrive on day 3 anyways.

they should be alright but get your wife to at least dump the bags in the tank for temperature. literally thats all she has to do... 3 days at temperature below 20°c might start to cause damage.

    respect for what you do

+1 (to both points!) I recently did an online order for a fish and a few coral. Instructed the wife to open the box, and float all of the bags until I got there (without opening them of course!). Made my job acclimating everything that much easier.

So easy, even a caveman can do it!

Great idea! I'm sure I can get her to float the bags.
