Well i need to replace my sea clone. Issue is room in my sump. Id like to keep the live rock in the sump but if it needs to go so be it! Theres a lot of pods in there so im on the I want to keep it side of things. Right now between the sump and tank im guessing about 90 gallons of water. Does anyone have any good recommendations for hob skimmers or smaller in sump skimmers that do a good job?

I guess what it boils down to am i better off with an in sump skimmer?
And is it worth me keeping the live rock in there or is it better off in the main tank?
The only reason im leaning toward the HOB is to keep the live rock

What are the dimensions of the sump skimmer area? And the fuge area?
The fuge looks wider - could you swap and put the skimmer in there?

The sump is 12"w. First chamber is 4 1/4 wide, second is 7" wide and is about 8" deep, third where my cheato is tumbling is about 4 1/2 wide and about 7" deep.

you could always run an external skimmer where all you have in the sump is the pump to feed the skimmer or you could run your drain directly to the skimmer

I looked into the 150 and it sits too high i think. Ive read some articles on skimming which most say you can never over skim. Do you think a skimmer rated at 180 gallons is too much for 90 gallons? This one is the same manufacture and it sits at 18" not the 23 i need for the 150

Im thinking im going to take the first wall down and that would give me plenty of room to add almost any skimmer I would need, 11"x12" and the water would be about 8" deep. Maybe leave the rock in that area and If my pods dont make it there so be it.

That was going to be my next suggestion. I actually did that in my sump for the same reason. Good call!
