So I have to move my 150g tank about 10 feet from one side of the room to another. Not happy about it but it has to be done. What are my chances of moving this thing with taking out 90% of the water and pretty much all the rock. It is on ceramic tile. I can slide it without damaging the tile and even if it did I don't care because it will be replaced soon anyway. I have moved this thing 3 times with nothing in it and just the glass is pretty heavy but can be done with 2 people. I think I can slide it slowly across the room with a few people? what do you think?

    With the water in it?!

If its only HALF full - 75 gallons of water is 625lbs plus another 200+ lbs of glass/stand you are talking about nearly 1000lbs.

Totally not worth risking moving it full IMHO. You would be better to remove as much water as possible as you did in the other moves. It's a total PITA - but worth it.

Oooops - I did a poor job reading the post the first time. I thought you were trying to move the tank WITH 90% of the water still in hahah.

I think if you took out 90% of the water and most of the rock with those floor sliders you and a few friends should be able to gingerly move the tank without damaging it or the floor!

    Good luck either way!!!

Good...I'm glad you weren't talking about the 3:00 AM sliders As Seen On TV! The way they talk about it, you could put 4 of them under the Empire State Building, and slide it across the street. The trick is getting the sliders under.

I'd have to agree with draining it. Best bet.
