I bought a green plate on Black Friday, looked great in the display tank at the LFS. Got it home along with a new Acan placed them both on the bottom of my 29g hqi. The tentacles on the plate extended most of the way that day. The next day they were retracted, and I noticed some tissue loss. Each morning I have got up since then and there has been slightly more tissue loss and the tentacles have not extended. Any ideas what may be causing this and if it may recover?

It may be getting to much light. Mine did that for a few days when I moved to my new shallow tank and I hadda dial back my leds and it snapped right back.

Oh it can also be getting to much direct flow.

I will attempt to move it into the shade a bit.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
This can be a hard coral to keep. The tissue is sensitive and infection and decay can set in quickly in my experience, especially through handling during shipping or transport.

With that said it's also a corals that can make a dramatic come back with no visible tissue present.

    Good luck

It is now in the shade, but has lost a substantial amount of tissue in 3 days.
