I have a 90 gallon reef tank that at the moment I only have 1 blue xenia, 1 brittle star, 2 percula, and a snowflake eel. My question is, should I invest in a phosphate reactor since I have fish and I also want to stock it with sps corals. At this time i have my phos down to 1 ppm, it was up to 5ppm, and I am still treating the tank, now at this time unfortunately my star has lost a couple of arms and my xenia does not fully bloom, but they are coming back, so would it be a good idea to get a reactor, thanks

your star made be unhappy due more to calcium and dkh. what are those levels at? starts can be sensitive to swings in it. would be a good idea , imo, to run a phos reactor.

I would get those phosphates down to zero before dropping in some SPS. If it takes a reactor to do it.......

I would say yes, It would be a great investment if you do plan on keeping sps.

If your pic in your album is what I am thinking, the tank is way too young for coral. The Star will suffer also. My contention has always been that a tank should be stable on all parameters for at least 4-5 mos. before adding coral and moderately difficult inverts. Now the reactor is always a plus so I would add one. You say you are "treating the tank", with what?

Just remember, they dont work overnight. Mine took about 2-3 months to be fully effective. I now swear by them!!!
