should i buy live sand?

    if i am getting live rock, is live sand really that great to have?

    I would, its all ive ever used in my tanks with live rock and ive been able to add fish alot sooner due to quicker cycling.

    I wouldn't bother. It's a lot more money and by the time you have to put any live stock in your tank it will be live sand.
    Another great way to jump start your sand is to ask your LFS or a friend with an established tank to give you a cup of their sand.

    i often debated it as well, but now i have like 100 pounds of it in my 55 gallona dn i love having the deep sand bed, also i have never had to add calcium its always at like 440 or so

    ok, for a nano tank i have read 1-3 inches, i was thinking 2, what do you guys think?

    I wouldn't get it. i just bought some but only because I wanted the indo type sand and the only way to get it is alive.
