I dont' know MGledhill18, I definately know that my ammonia has spiked and has been at 8.0 for the past two days.... I have been going thru the testing supplies... I have been testing every day since the ammonia started to rise... This tank has been up and running since Dec 15th.

You didn't have any fish for the cycling process? For example Damsels!
Do you even know if your tank cycled yet? That is an expensive livestock bioload to have in your tank without knowing your water parameters or if your tank cycled yet!
I would remove the livestock you have now and add acouple damsels or so! Frequently test your water and take it slow to be sure your tank has cycled through all the way...then add the inverts and the corals...I'm afraid this may back fire on you as shrimp especially are not able to withstand the stress and challenges of a cycle(pH, alkalinity, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate)! The high levels associated with a cycle will not be tollerated by most living organisms. I'm just trying to help you out is all, so that you will be a successful reefer and also keep your livestock alive.

I test the water regularly now but did not test for ammonia and nitrite in first 2 weeks-my local aquarium shop said not to bother. I was also advised to put in the shrimps and coral before the fish but reading the forum it appears that a couple of damsels should go in first-I'm getting confused
