A while ago I posted about my plate coral that was not looking so hot. I am not sure what is wrong, but I do not think it would make a difference because much of the skeloten is now showing. It looks BAD. I did eveything I could to keep it from dieing once it started to look bad, but I guess I did not catch it early enough. I just saw it releasing this brown, slimy waste?!? Not sure what it is, but should I just remove it from the tank? It does not look good at all. There are even brown spots on the skeloten. UGHHHHUUGHHH...Very upsetting, but what has to be done, has to be done.

It is long tentacle. I just thought it would recover, but I guess not. WHat should I do with it once I take it out. This might sound weird, but is it safe to clean off the coral then keep the skeloten because it is really cool. LOL...Ughghghg, but still not a time to be laughing :(

Well..I wouldnt do that..But from what i heard, the LT plates are harder to keep. I would try and give it to someone who has good expierence with them or to an LFS.

I think it is too late for that. :(
I have done all I can to care for it...I guess it just was not enough :(
So what do I do with it?
Isn't it dangerous for it to be in the tank? (Decaying coral= Higher PH Exc.)

Yes, but if it keeps getting worse and worse every day quickly then just take it out..I leave coral in my tank until i know there is no way it will recover..But i havnt lost a coral in over 8 months. :D

No it will be OK to leave it in the tank. Plates are known to regenerate after the die so don't be surprised to see growth coming out of it some day.

If only the skeleton is left (and you want to keep it) then couldn't you nuke it like people nuke LR?

Really....Hmmmmmm sounds like it might have hope. To be honest with you though it started to look bad 3 weeks ago, and that is when I thought it had a chance to still recover. It looks BAD and it just keeps getting worse. If there is a risk I really do not want to keep it in........could it harm my tank? I will post a picture..then you could judge whether it is DONE or not. Thanks for the help
