Wow, i have never seen or heard of such a nice clown not defending its anemone. It must be a captive raised male. It seems like your clowns do not behave like most clowns(at least i dont think so). A female maroon that gets picked on by a six-line and a clarkii that does not defend its anemone. I have seen female clowns bully puffers and other larger fish that could eat them. Not the opposite.lol Good luck with the switch.

Believe it or not the clarkii is wild caught, the maroon however is not.

Three hours after the trap has been set I have not had success yet. I started with a few spectrum pellets, then added a hikari carnivore pellet and then some brine shrimp. If I move the trap around a little to shake up the brine shrimp the foxface and wrasse will slightly go in the opening of the trap enough to grab some food and take off.

    /shrug

I'm going to the store so hopefully if I make it home through the snow storm I'll find a wrasse in my trap.

    Success!!!

jftr the trap was in there for about 8 hours with no luck. Upon observation I came to the conclusion that the hole may have been intimidating for the sixline to go in (I left the mouth of the bottle on). I cut it off, put trap back in and got him right away!

    Gotcha! Muhahaha

So here's an update on the transition...

The clarkii & blue hippo both show mild aggression now when the sixline gets too close to the anemone and the rocks around it. I think it's interesting that the tang defends the anemone like it's hers too. The clarkii slightly darts at it and opens his mouth at it or just nudges it out of the way. The blue hippo nudges and pushes him out of the area. The sixline is certainly not this king of this new tank!

I have a pair of true percs, that were doing great in one of our reef tanks. They loved their anemone and were truly happy. A few months back I had to pull a pygmy angel out because he was attacking the male(much smaller then the female). After a few months, put the pygmy back, and all was good. About a month later, our sixline was doing the attacking. He did even care that the male perc was in his anemone, he would just dive right at the perc. Finally after about two weeks of it stressing the fish, not to mention me, I finally pulled the perc out. He was an original fish in the tank, along with the sixline, but he really never grew, and the wrasse tripled in size. I have the perc in another tank with our Dogface, and he loves it...8)

The fact that my maroon never grew and the sixline was now much larger was concerning to me too. I felt sorry for the maroon always getting beat up and it was only getting worse. It's so funny to watch the sixline get dominated now in the new tank! He so deserves it! I still can't get over how the blue hippo defends the anemone too though, it's like her and the clarkii are mates or something.

The two fish continue to guard "their" seabe... I swear the blue hippo thinks she's a tang and just can't figure out why she can't go in the anemone. Here's some pic's of them laying down the law on the sixline who either doesn't learn too quickly or is just stubborn, or both.
