Should i need more live sand?

    hello everyone
    i had my tank up and running for about 1 mouth and i have no fish in it just 36lb or live rock.

    and all i have in the tank is 25lb of live sand do you think i need more going to be making this tank into a coral reef tank.

    What size is your tank? Do you want a deep sand bed?

    Just like Aaron stated how big is your tank? Also you don't need more live sand, you just need sand in general. The live sand will seed the new dead sand. Much cheaper that way.

    Need to know the size? usualy 1 to 1 1/2 pounds per gallon will do.

    sry it is a 30g breeder tank.
    and idk if i should have a deep sand bed.

    To answer your question, no. Sand is not a requirement for a reef tank. If you have a thin layer only, that is fine. You may add more if you like. Several folks keep it around 1-2" deep.

    You do not need to add more "live sand". Just clean sand.

    you have enough sand in your tank as it is. Some people even prefer no sand at all. I normally go for a 2 inch bed of sand just for aesthetics and enough for my goby to sift through.
