I was thinking more like 48x24x18...and the spot is picked out...wifey even thought that maybe I could check with cabinet team to see if they could build a base cab that matched the rest of kitchen...woot

 

+1 on getting your cabinet guys to do your stand. Just make sure that they understand the critical importance of having it be true and square and make sure that they aren't using any of that pressboard type of stuff. It wouldn't do to have your stand swell to 3x its original size the first time that you get it really wet.
