I know there has been a lot of talk recently about leds. I currently run a two bulb T5 on my 29g. Its great light, bright, good growth as well. I'm looking for a moon light night. I'm not sure if moon lights should run the entire time of the night cycle. Maybe someone could answer that. This is what I'm looking at. It's fairly cheap and I could just hook it up to a timer. I'm not too smart on led or moon lighting but I was looking at the one with just the royal blue light...Is this "moon light"? Will this also give that florescent affect or is this a different type of blue all together? Also, they are Par38 21watt. They have the one with 3white 2blue leds. I suppose two maybe three of those would replace my t5 all together. I guess I'm also confused if royal blue is the same as the actinic in my t5...ok lots of questions lol!

    Thanks guys

I would look at rapidLED or BoostLED before I would buy those. I bought 2 PAR30 LEDs from rapidled with 80 degree optics for my 10 gallon and they look awesome. With shipping I paid a little more than 1 of those you listed.

Your right as far as compairing apples to apples. I was talking about a Par30 bulb vs the Par38. I looked at rapid and theirs is $99, so a little cheaper. I can say rapidled's service was excellent if that helps in your decision.

Yeah..what is the difference b/w par30 & 38? Wouldn't 38 be better as it has more light?

yes a single par38 has more light output than a single par30. but for the price I went with 2 par30's for light distribution throughout the tank.

That is not a moon light, but is meant to be a main light coupled with a daylight bulb too. As for moonlights, you're looking for a weak LED light that is blue. You don't need to worry about PAR. I would perhaps use a single Stunner strip or look for the cheapest LED strip you can find.

Par 30 and par 38 refer to the size of the bulb or unit not directly to light out put.
