I personally like it without the plants. I just ordered some macro algae from Reefcleaners, and it should be arriving tomorrow. Looking forward to a little more color in the tank. (I'm a newbie...)

I agree.. This is marine man, yank the plastic & add real plants. Some branching sponges would look sharp..

If you want the plastic look, might as well take out the LR & add plastic rock & colored pebbles as your sand.

Very nice rock work, do the macro algaes from reefcleaners. You can get the ones that look like those plants and be good for the tank too.

the part of reek keeping i love the most is making a reef, adding a coral placing it and just looking at the beauty of it brings joy to my heart. i believe once you find that perfect and beautiful coral and place it, you will see what we are saying and the plastic will come out by your own hands. reef keeping is an honor, and a love that can be matched by no other hobby, you are creating a living other world, another universe, and the coral and fish and other matter, give it life. james

I think it looks great, Holly!

After your coral starts growing and things are getting full, you can remove them if you want:)

I like it without the plants because it reminds me of a fresh water tank. However, it is your tank and you do with it what you wish. I would personally try to get some of the live ones that everyone is talking about and you may end up liking them more. :D

I think it looks pretty cool both ways. +1 to getting some real stuff from reefcleaners though. We actually ordered a few from them the other day (a flame algae and a cactus looking thing who's name eludes me at the moment). It's supposed to arrive today, so will post some pics once we get it in the tank.

And, I agree with Panfish. The black sand looks totally sweet.
