    Hi All,
I'm putting in my newly found Old Castle Tropical Sand and was wondering if everybody rinses the sand before putting it in the tank? I am thinking I should rinse it, but what do you do?

    Thanks

well, I would say EVERYBODY rinses the sand before putting it in the tank. You even do that with sand where they write "no rinsing required" on the bag.
And everybody who did not do it would tell you they'd do it the next time.
Rinse it, and rinse it again ... and again.
The more you rinse, the better it is.

RINSE RINSE RINSE!!! the more you rinse the beter skennelly. Put the sand in a bucket about 1/2 or 1/3 of the bucket and stick a water hose in the bottom of the bucket. let all the dust and bad stuff overflow once the water starts to clear up move the hose around. repeat until the water is as clean as you can get it to be. that way you wont get cloudy water for a week.

    Marc.
