Should I run carbon during the cycle?

    I believe most will say no. You do not want the carbon removing the toxins, as that defeats the purpose of the cycle itself (which is to get the tank to remove the toxins itself, basically).

    I turned my actinics on about week 8 and MH's on week 10.

    I kept carbon out - and ran no lights till my tank prams went to 0 . Was about 6 weeks if I remember correctly. After that, I added carbon and started the lights on a 12 hour cycle.
