okay someone at a lfs said to turn it on. I thought that was wrong because I had read in a book not too. and now 3reef has come through once again.

what happens if you do run the skimmer?

    It'll slow down your cycle.

Theres no need to run the skimmer while cycling b/c theres nothing to clean. You dont even need the lights to be on. Luna

Skimming will also retard the coralline expansion as it skims off the new spores no skimming required :)
