i lost my firefish bc my clowns would not let it eat. it eventually starved. I just could not keep the clowns distracted enough.

i have said it before, i hate clowns and i would like to get rid of mine. they make feeding other fish and corals a real PITA.

distraction is key i think. but clowns are never "full" - feeding them first does not cut it you have to feed them somewhere else entirely and simultaneously spot feed the firefish.

my firefish never did get aggressive enough to get its own food and I could not keep up with it (apparently)...

every fish is different, just sharing my experience.

yea i stand in front just because i slowly pour the food in because i don't want to dump all the food in at once, incase they don't eat everything. I think a lot of it is that with him hiding he might not know its dinner time

i think i'll try that on monday when i feed next to see if that will help also

Yeah Chick, I gotta agree with Peredhil on this one. I'll probably get rid of my Clown pair for the same reason.....they're a PITAH!!!! Can't target feed my corals in my frag tank without these little chits gobbling everything up!! :-/

kind of off topic but saw a helfrich for the fist time in a almost LFS (about an hour away) very cool looking. I'm jealous i want one now. i hope the feeding gets easier for you. i agree that any type of target feeding will spook it even more. i tried that with a sleeper goby for a while, they day i gave up he got bold enough to come out and eat.

if things get really bad i will probably get rid of the female, the male isin't as bad as she is and very docile compared to her. But thats only if it gets really bad, their not used to sharing food, but they need to learn fast

yea the helfrichi is a gorgeous fish in person, i just can't get the color of them to really show in pics, very tiny fish too, i thought they would be a little bit bigger. And thanks i hope so too, it ate great at first really easy fish, now not so much, lol i new it was too good to be true for things to go as good as they have been
