I put this pulsing xenia I bought yesterday from the LFS and it has wilted since yesterday. I know i've read this is normal, but I wanted to get a second opinion. The first pic is last night, and 2nd what it looked like today.

When Xenia gets mad IT GETS MAD. This is completely normal, gve it another couple of days then see how it is.
    Just in case: Params?
    How did you acclimate?

I just have the test strips and my nitrates are up but in the ok range. I think my phosphates are up too due to some green algae growth on some rocks. :-l

I think my new coral is about wilted. It really looks bad today. Man what a buzz kill with ever getting corals. The guy at the LFS told me i didn't have to acclimate it. I should have i guess. My phosphates are up to. Not sure what parameters, but my snails always die when putting in the tank. I acclimated them for a little over an hour. its at the bottom of the tank should I attempt to move it to the top?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Be more concerned about your pH.

Unless your phosphate are running really high or nitrates are off the charts.

Snails dying and problems with xenia tends to make me think, difficulty with pH or swings in SG.

Xenia does not need pristine water conditions nor a lot of intense lighting.

Ok thanks for the positive responses. The only thing I can think of that has caused it would be I cleaned out all the muck from my hob refugium, and need to replace my RO/DI filters. I do weekly water changes, and from my strip tests it says ph, alk, nitrites are good, but nitrates are up but in the ok range.

try bringing a sample of your water to lfs to test. Test strips are not very good and pretty unreliable. Liquid ones are better. You could be getting wrong results from your strips.
Also what are your params, good, isnt clear enough especially when your using test strips.

It's funny because they used test strips to at the LFS, which i thought was odd being they are one of the largest marine stores in the midwest. With that being said, they usually put the new or young employees up front to help customers. And his test ran the same as my'n. Just a question on how members here get the accurate test readings? Are they tested threw electronic meters, or liquid tests. Even with the liquid tests you can kind of guess which numbers they are by the colors? I know I was thinking of getting a GFO reactor, would that help?

I picked up some liquid test kits for Nitrate, and phospahte. The phosphate was 0, and Nitrates were 15-25. What can cause the swings, or rise in PH? I have my HOB refugium on a reverse lighting schedule.. I did however find one snail alive the other day when i was taking out my rocks and scrubbing the (!@#$*%) algae off them... I just dont want to wipe my ass with money.
