So angry with myself. I have been reading alot lately and I'm pretty sure I should've went with a sump instead of the FX5. Such a dumb ass newbie mistake.

Well I'm thinking of changing it out. I'm planning on a 20 or 30 gallon tank underneath my 75g. Put all the goods in the sump instead of on the DT. Just have to do some reading on what to get and how to build it now.

Just had to rant about this. If any of you have some setup options for the sump that would be great. I want to continue this setup for a reef tank.

    Thanks.

unless your tank is drilled than you will need a hang on overflow box... i dont trust those one bit, but a lot of people have had good success with them... sumps are easy to set up... just get a tank and decide how you want it set up... use the search and look around at peoples sumps they have on here and see what you like...

a sump is def way better have.. pros def outweight the cons

I have the overflow box and it's been running without a hitch for about 6 months. My setup is configured so that even if the overflow box fails, neither the DT nor the sump will overflow.

Not necessarily, there are tons of DIY overflows that sit directly in the tank I will post a like to one, I think looks very promising. I has the plans start to finish too so it should be an easy build

heres the over flow working on a nano, you could easily use black pvc as it would be less obstructive to view as white
